Download Firebugs is a personal content filter that helps prevent stumbling onto inappropriate content and block access to specific content and Web sites. Download Firebugs also includes password-protected security features to secure settings, access Tools/Add-ons and access configuration settings. Includes a 'whitelist' feature which allows parents, library/school lab administrators to designate a specific list of sites that can be accessed. This overrides filtering and has been requested by several users. The program appears as an icon in the Windows system tray, and Download Firebugs the icon launches an options panel where you can configure the utility's many features. You can create as many as 12 rules for either mouse actions or keyboard Download Firebugs, and they can be saved in multiple configurations. The two default rules provide good examples of what the program does: pressing either the Alt key or the left mouse button while also turning the mouse's scroll wheel will turn the master Download Firebugs up or down on all Download Firebugs. Installation of this freeware program was complicated because the downloaded folder had several Download Firebugs that could be installed, although it eventually loaded quickly once the proper one was selected. A formal tutorial would have been a good addition, since Download Firebugs for Mac's menus were difficult to interpret. The three main menus divide the program according to talent, songs, and what is called a "pitch journal." In the talent area, users can enter the names and contact information of musicians with which they are working on original songs. The song catalog area allows for entry of track information, as well as the role each contributor is playing in its creation. Audio can also be included in this section. The pitch journal also allows for notations and deadlines for following up. The menus have good graphics and function well. The program would be a great addition to a recording or editing program, but as a standalone application, it feels incomplete.
